Competition pools
The Design and construction of competition swimming pools
BSR, a company part of CEMI Network, designs and builds systems for all water sports: sports pools for swimming and water polo, synchronized swimming and for diving, as well as all the pools related to these sports, such as training, cool-down pools and those for learning to swim.
We offer a turnkey project financing service which includes choosing manager, the financing body and the builder for the facility. Our over 50 years of experience is our guarantee: simple and safe maintenance, lower energy consumption for water heating, together with less wastewater consumption deriving from washing the filters, with the possibility of using irrigation.
We work on a daily basis with sports clubs and associations, municipalities, construction companies and professionals such as architects and engineers, guaranteeing a project that reflects the customer's needs.
When you choose us, we are with you every step of the way: from design to implementation, including after-sales assistance and services.
Sports facilities
BSR creates sport facilities that stand out for their manufacturing quality and high technological value. Some 80% of the materials we use in the construction of the sports pools are produced in Italy. Also, our competitive swimming pool designs are equipped with innovative solutions for sports facility management with a view to saving on consumption and reducing maintenance operations:
- BRS98 valve, an automatic valve for water filtration.
- Multiprogram control unit, for the automatic management of water disinfection.
- CEMI Control System, a monitoring system that allows you to remotely manage the global system operations, thanks to a simple and user-friendly graphic interface.
Water polo pools
The water polo pools created by BSR can be equipped with the following accessories:
- Water polo field: a water polo field complete with end lines, sidelines, line signals (flags), play and offside lines, goal lines, goals, penalty area lines and halfway lines, including anchors and turnbuckles. To complete the accessories there is the floating ball holder with ball release device.
- Water polo referee platform: platforms necessary for referees for water polo competitions, with suitable approved FINA (International Swimming Federation) colors.
- Scoreboard: a programmable scoreboard control unit with display board for the public with vertical text scrolling and flashing system and is able to display animations.
The minimum size of the water polo pool for international competitions is 33,33 m x 21 m or 34,83 m x 21,00 m (with a 1,50 m wide mobile bridge), with a minimum depth of 2,00 m across the entire competition field. The dimensions of the competition pool design are 30 m x 20 m for men's water polo and 25 m x 20 m for women's water polo, with a minimum depth of 2,00 m. The water polo pool can be equipped with a mobile bridge 1,50 m wide to make it multipurpose and also suitable for swimming and lifesaving disciplines, thus creating a competition field measuring 25,00 m x 21,00 m.
Synchronized swimming pool
The synchronized swimming pools created by BSR can be equipped with the following accessories:
- Synchronized swimming platform: starting platforms for synchronized swimming complete with climbing ladders, compliant with the FINA (International Swimming Federation) and safety regulations.
- Sound diffusion system: underwater loudspeakers specially designed for audio diffusion in swimming pools, that have been designed and built to have the best acoustic performance in water, complete with mixer amplifier system and audio reproduction system.
- Synchronized swim control system: an automatic system that allows synchronized swimming competitions to be controlled thanks to a computer, with software approved by the FINA (International Swimming Federation). It includes a printing system of the recorded information and an evaluation system of judges' responses based on the recorded results.
- Scoreboard: a programmable scoreboard control unit with display board for the public with vertical text scrolling and flashing system and is able to display animations.
For international competitions, the minimum size of the synchronized swimming pool is 33,33 m x 21 m or 34,83 m x 21,00 m, with a minimum depth of 2,5 m / 3,00 m. The swimming pool should also be equipped with a 1,50 m wide mobile bridge, in order to make it multipurpose and suitable for water polo.
OLYMPIC SWIMMING POOL
BSR olympic swimming pools, semi olympic swimming pools and swimming training pools which, in addition to complying with FINA, FIN and CONI regulations regarding the structural characteristics, they are made in full compliance with the regulations in force in each country, regarding the requirements of the circulation, treatment, disinfection and quality systems of the pool water.
The Olympic swimming pool is the regulatory model of pool that is used in the Olympic Games and in all major international events. The size of the Olympic swimming pool established by FINA (International Swimming Federation) is 50 m long and 25 m wide, made up of 10 lanes measuring 2.50 m wide, each of which must have a minimum depth of 2 m. If the pool is used for other disciplines such as synchronized swimming, the recommended depth is 3 m.
For the World Championships, the swimming pools must be 25 m long and 25 m wide, made up of 10 lanes measuring 2,5 m wide each, and the minimum permitted depth is 1,35 m.
ACCESSORIES FOR OLYMPIC POOLS
Our Olympic swimming pools and semi-Olympic swimming pools can be equipped with the following accessories:
- Mobile bridge: the mobile bridge has been specifically designed to divide the swimming pool into well-separated areas. Moving easily thanks to wheels that move on tracks placed on the long sides of the pool, the mobile bridge allows you to do different activities within the same pool. It is for this reason that you are able to place starting blocks and other accessories on top of it.
- Movable bottom: the movable bottom is a special piece of equipment that is used to allow the tub to use different depths, making it multifunctional. Thanks to its structure, built entirely in stainless steel, it reduces the height of the pool in limited areas, thus allowing different activities such as training, swimming for children and water aerobics.
- Removable head: in the context of competitive swimming pool designs without competition heads, the removable heads allow overflow on all four sides of the pool and at the same time guarantee excellent support for the starting blocks, the floating lane anchors and the electronic plate time detection.
- Starting blocks: the starting blocks from BSR are among the most sophisticated and cutting-edge currently on the market. They are the starting point for the athlete's dive: corresponding to FINA rules, they are suitable for both official competitions and training and are offered in a wide range of models. Non-slip and of various heights, they are also available with side handles.
- Floating lanes: available in different shapes and colors, the floating lanes serve to separate the various lanes inside the Olympic swimming pool. Used in major competitions worldwide, they have been specifically designed to have the perfect shape for breaking the wave.
- Turn and false start indicators: ropes with flags for back turns and ropes with balls for false starts serve to signal when the swimmer must make the turn and block them in the false start area simply being lowered into the water.
- Race timing system: management software that manages the display of timing data, names, starting orders and rankings on the scoreboard.
